EveryDejaVu's November Recap
Releases, releases, and more releases. And thinking about everything that my brain is prepping for in 2025!
Happy December! It’s cold outside, the sun goes down too early in Massachusetts, and I’m ready to have some days off of work. But while I’m slowly trekking along until then, EveryDejaVu still has more to give you before the year wraps up. We had a fun November with 3 project releases and our blog kept posting with 8 new posts spanning from covering rap to indie rock to post-punk. Let me walk you through the highlights of the month and tell you a little bit about our 2025 plans!
New Project Releases (Nov - today)
RELEASED TODAY - Warping soul samples alongside eccentric, splattered drum chops, freespottie's new album, Center Page Reflections, is an introspective memoir for the Atlanta rapper & producer. Each track plays out a different life lesson or tunneled reflection: "Clocks" has him addressing the relentless grip of technology versus the importance of true self-ownership, "Deja" is scattered stream of conscious covering the feelings of something new and familiar, "Fantasy" is a love song and about the whimsical feelings that come with the privilege of getting to be in love. Listen here.
Released Nov 22 - Argentinian jazz-R&B fusion artist Chaiah hits a transformative peak with her euphoric, autobiographical debut album Control Release. A skilled musician, producer, and engineer, her artistry thrives on an eclectic mix of analog warmth and digital finesse, crafting a signature sound influenced by the likes of Sevdaliza, Kamasi Washington, and Sigur Rós. Listen here.
Released Nov 13 - Ehiorobo and Icarus Moth just released their new collaborative EP, Mutamelior, that's a hope-fueled, genre-bending fusion of alt-R&B, hip-hop and EDM. Listen here.
Released Nov 6 — Boldly exploring the creative depths of alternative hip-hop, Jay Cinema and Chow’s latest release are not B-sides of their previous release, Alchemy, but rather entirely new works flexing the duo’s current state of creative evolution. Listen here.
MORE NEWS!
It’s been a crazy few months, but we have one last piece of music to give you, as well as some a new merch drop this week! Here’s what to look out for:
“ryder” by lilith, featuring V V N out Dec 13
lilith’s second single with us is a smooth, beat-driven throwback to chopped and screwed '90s R&B with infectious melodies by V V N. “Ryder, emerged from a rare, electric moment of pure creativity—a spontaneous late-night session with collaborator V V N that gave life to a song exploring the longing and intricacies of dating. “We were painting, and we had just gotten through some rough patches in terms of experiences in romance in our respective lives and wanted to find catharsis through making a song,” lilith shares. The result was a playful, heartfelt love song about the simple joy of being in a car with someone you care about—with lilith admittedly embracing their role as a, “passenger princess.”
Bandcamp Friday - new merch & discounts!
This Friday is the last Bandcamp Friday of the year. In case you don’t know, Bandcamp Friday is when Bandcamp — the platform that hosts our online store with all of our merch — waives all their fees and any money you spend goes directly to us and our artists. Usually they take around 10%, so on Friday, December 6th, we get to keep that 10%! So on that note, we got a couple fun things for you coming on Friday:
Dolly Ave’s Sleep is will be available on vinyl starting this Friday! We got a very limited run to sell ourselves in partnership with VNYL.
We’re discounting Ehiorobo & Icarus Moth’s Mutamelior cassette by 20% just for Bandcamp Friday. You can get $2 off your purchase of the cassette by using this coupon code: bcfriday.
We restocked the poetry book we did with Blu! LETTER, a poetry book by Blu, is Blu’s letter to literature “asking for permission.” It has a poem for each letter of the alphabet and comes in with a matte covered finish. Available individually or as a bundle with a cassette & bookmark.
Every dollar purchased always goes back into the label and shared with the artists. We appreciate your support all these years! Visit our Bandcamp here.
Sneak peak into what else we got planned…
We’re doing some blog revamps, starting a new video podcast via Twitch, and planning for PIECES vol. iii & PIECES vol. iv in Q1 2025 (our local event series!)
We’re not entirely sure what the blog revamps will entail, but are also open to any feedback you may have. What do you want to see from our blog? More reviews? More coverage of niche scenes? More interviews? Let us know (email or reach out on social media, maybe we’ll send you some free merch if you actually give us a nice thorough response)!
Really excited to properly announce this, but we’re starting a new video podcast via Twitch called EveryDejaVuTV! It will start as a series for me to interview all of our artists — new and old — and talk about their recent releases and whatever else is going on in their lives. More on this soon.
More info on the shows we’re hosting in the new year soon, but I’m trying to play catch up and host two shows in the first quarter. Only thing I can say now is we have February 19 on hold at a venue and potentially are having someone from our roster travel in to perform!
