New release: Borboleta returns with "That's Fine"
The Providence-based singer returns with a soulful letter of goodbye that honors love, friendship, and growth through endings.
This is an exciting week. Today, we released Borboleta’s new single, “That’s Fine,” which is her first single since releasing “Plastic Heart” in 2022. And it’s crazy to think that we essentially just passed the 7 year anniversary of knowing each other. I reached out to Borboleta in 2018 on Twitter and we ended up meeting at a coffee shop between Providence and Boston. She was the first artist I looked to work with since moving up here in 2017, and over the years we’ve worked on music in my apartment (I think actually 3 different apartments now), we’ve performed together, we’ve obviously released music together, and she’s been a part of many shows we’ve hosted around Boston. So don’t mind me being very excited to release more of her music! More about the actual song itself below, but feel free to run to your favorite streaming platform and listen to “That’s Fine” already.
We have some other news below including our show coming up on Saturday night (if you’re near the Boston area, you better show up!), new merch on the way, and upcoming new singles from Sleep Sinatra and Dear Dea.
A soulful letter of goodbye: “That’s Fine” by Borboleta
Borboleta returns with “That’s Fine,” a tender, soul-baring letter of goodbye that honors love, friendship, and growth through endings. Written in the wake of a three-year relationship, “That’s Fine” is a moment of emotional clarity, it’s reflective, empowering, and grounded in gratitude. “When I first heard the song I fell in love with the mood of it, it felt nostalgic and empowering,” says Borboleta, the moniker of Providence-based poet-turned-singer Rochelle Leach. “I used the song to say everything I couldn’t say to their face. The relationship ended really amicably, so I wanted to write something that honored genuine love, friendship and the growth that comes with endings.”
Inspired by mid-2000s UK singer-songwriters and driven by poetic honesty, “That’s Fine” pairs introspective lyrics with understated elegance. The accompanying artwork, shot by Eden Tai inside the artist’s father’s Grand Marquee, captures the liminal space of moving forward: hair shaking, past shedding.
PIECES vol. iv featuring Angel Javier, TEATEA, Borboleta
Our local event series, PIECES, continues with its fourth installment at The Lilypad in Cambridge on August 23. We haven’t put on a show at the Inman Square venue yet and I’m looking forward to bringing you a fun bill of artists covering a blend of genres including but not limited to indie pop, R&B, and latin.
We’ll also have new EDV merch at the show! We got shirts designed by Ant with the intent of having shirts that honor our current home, Boston. Will be on sale at the show on Saturday, as well as at Beats on the Beach on Aug 30 where we’ll be tabling.
New single coming from Sleep Sinatra, “Dirge"
Lincoln, Nebraska-based rapper and producer Sleep Sinatra is set to release new single “Dirge” on August 27, the first single from his upcoming album TIMESOFPERIL. The track is a solemn yet introspective journey on loss, grief, and the memories that linger beyond death.
“A dirge by definition is a lament for the dead,” says Sleep. “I’ve known a lot of loss in this lifetime. That grief pushed me inward. This song is another way I’ve processed those feelings—it’s therapy, it’s ritual, it’s remembrance.”

New single coming from Dear Dea, “Azúcar"
With infectious alt-R&B grooves and a Latin-infused pop allure, Dear Dea announced her new single, 'Azúcar,' out September 3rd. The track documents the bittersweet realization that a once fun relationship has turned toxic and must now end. Produced by Kasperi Kallio and featuring guitar by Ossi Maristo, 'Azúcar,' balances playful, fizzing melodies with sardonic lyricism.
“I was so angry and sad and having these long conversations in my head about the situation, just planning what to say and thinking of sassy and wise comebacks to our arguments,”
